#Instagram Testing Multiple #Account Access on #iOS

Instagram is one of those social media services where many people are likely to have multiple accounts. Whether it's a private and a public account or a personal and several businesses then you're well aware what a pain it can be to log in and out on your phone to switch between accounts. But now a beta test has come into place that means you might not have to for much longer.

Back in November Instagram ran a beta test for multiple account access for Android phones. It was all anyone could talk about until it quickly disappeared after a short time of having been talked about by the media. Was the beta test simply over or was it an out too soon sort of thing? You can still find information on signing up for the beta online even if it's not supposed to work any more.  You will still be able to beta test other new features as they pop up if you have signed up though. iOS users on the other hand don't have to worry about signing up for anything. This beta test for Apple products is being rolled out randomly to some users which means most people are stumbling across the feature by accident. Be warned though, since the last test ended so abruptly this one could too so enjoy the feature while you can.

The update gives you access very simply in a way similar to running multiple Tumblr accounts on your phone. You open up the options menu and you should see an add account button. You log into the second account through that and then you can switch between accounts from the navigation pane. It's a little neater because it means you'll see the different people you're following on the different accounts feeds so it won't get mixed together and you shouldn't post on the wrong account, though it's always best to check. You'll get push notifications for all the accounts you're signed in on, not just the one you have open at the time and it'll tell you which account the notification is for.

I would say that if you have the feature but only one account, right now probably isn't the time to make a second account to test it out. It's simple to use and when it rolls out to everyone it'll be great but once the beta is over you could be back to switching between accounts. If it is something you have need for though then you'll probably be thanking Instagram very soon.
