We Heart @NikkieTutorials 'Power of Makeup' YouTube Video

Nikkie of NikkieTutorials has released a video on her YouTube channel explaining why no-one should be afraid of wearing makeup.

Makeup is such a tricky thing to master. We girls just can’t get it right. Either we wear too much and get called Oompa Loompas or we wear too little and get told we look rough. It’s a tough world out there.

Let’s face it as well, most of these types of comments probably come from stinky boys who are just totally jelly that they don’t have a way of sprucing up their look too.

But whatever the problem is, Nikkie has the answer.

In Nikkie's video she glams up one side of her face and leaves the other half completely natural. The aim of the video is to prove how much we can do with makeup. Not how much we need it.

Nikkie states very early on that people think we wear makeup because we’re insecure or trying to impress people we like. But she goes on to say that we shouldn't be afraid of loving our makeup and what it can do!

What I love about Nikkie is that she is a normal girl. She's not pretending to be something she isn't. She isn't stick thin, she isn't pretending to be a "natural" beauty (whilst secretly made up).

She begins the tutorial without any makeup on and she looks great. She’s still the same funny girl.

To be honest, when I saw another makeup-less face coming up on my YouTube I thought “Oh right here we go, another “look how naturally pretty I am, I love myself and we should all do the same” video.

But this online sensation isn’t going with the flow. She’s saying, yes sister, if you want to wear makeup for yourself, then why not?

If you fancy a glammed up look today, whose place is it to stop you? Who cares why you applied mascara this morning? Because if you feel good, that should be enough for anyone.

Nikkie doesn't want everyone with insecurities to just slap on as much makeup as possible, but with her tips she’s explaining how you can use makeup to extenuate your good parts and hide the parts of you you’re not so keen on. Why bother going through anything more drastic when a decent concealer and highlighter could do that for you?

Nikkie originally caught my eye when she did the Kylie Jenner lip challenge. Which she goes to do, then stops and begs young girls to stop taking part in this weird obsession. Once again, she shows her followers how to achieve this look with makeup.

Humanity has been using cosmetics for at least 6000 years. Probably longer. Look at those highly stylish Ancient Egyptians – they absolutely loved a good bit of Kohl eyeliner. It's not like it's unnatural either. Okay, no we don't see kangaroos bouncing around with Mac lipstick on, but we do see animals with their own way of displaying/showing off.

So this is our way to be individual, to be artistic and creative and become a part of our art. I'm not one of those girls who are covered in makeup, in fact a lot of the time, I can't be bothered to apply much more than a basic eye-regime. But, I think the world needs more Nikkies.

This video has reached nearly 13 million hits already and it's jumping up every day. Her other videos only average 500-700k so it just proves that Nikkie has made a good point and makeup lovers everywhere are feeling empowered. Hell yeah! Why don't we love our makeup more?

Her final points are summed up perfectly in this quote: "I just want people to know that makeup is fun and there are no rules."

Exactly, Niks. We agree. So go forth, wear as much or as little makeup as you want!

With more and more vloggers taking to YouTube to teach you some seriously good tips, why shouldn't we be making the most of this clever tool?

I think Nikkie is the perfect ambassador for makeup and I wish her the best with what is probably an about-to-take-off-big-time career !
