Social media marketing has its loyal followers, and its naysayers, but there is proof that marketing via networking platforms has gone mainstream, and is now a great way of promoting both a brand and the products it sells. Blogs as well as networks such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter have all become an important way to communicate with the outside world.

Launching a campaign via social media when setting up a new business can now be the difference between success and failure, as there are so many people using these networks, and it gives you a wide scope when thinking about your target market.

It is crucial to also know your limits on social media though, and too much use can get on people’s nerves, and eventually they will unfollow you due to your over-use. If you get it right, then it can be a great tool to secure some customers before any products are even launched.

This can be done in the lead up to a grand opening, or the launch of a new product. Creating a page on Facebook dedicated to your brand can create huge interest both locally, and further afield. Updating the page regularly with informative content will create a feeling of excitement for your followers, and the brand or product will be eagerly awaited. This works particularly well for businesses who are looking to hit the local market, as friends will inform each other of your new business.

From here you have a customer base who are excited about the prospect of a new brand, and potentially you can make sales off the back of this. After this stage, you can link to the official website, and users will see that the business is well worth investing in, whilst you can now think about launching a specific marketing strategy.

Using Twitter and Instagram will help also as both offer very different qualities to Facebook. Twitter is helpful if you want to reach a wide audience quickly, and Instagram is a great concoction of the two whilst integrating a stylistic approach with the image filters. Here you can gloss up your brand image and new products, and again this will gain you new followers and potential new customers for the long term.

Setting up a new business is stressful enough, but now there are more concerns of how to gain customers. People who overlook social media are missing a huge trick, and it can be a great way of securing interest in the brand. Simply setting up a Facebook page in connection with a new company can generate huge interest locally, which can then spread, ending in outstanding results.

Take the plunge, and use social media when setting up a new business. You won’t regret it.
