The unsung heroes of social media, the Instagram Husbands, are finally gaining the recognition they deserve after a spoof video lamenting the drawbacks of constant photo-taking for their wives gained mass appeal.
In the video, premièred on Emmy-winning Missouri talk show 'The Mystery Hour', the men documented give a confession-style insight into the people (and labour) behind the perfect pictures. The men appear disenchanted, bored and just plain beaten down by the process. In a call to bring together Instagram husbands everywhere, the spot mockingly encourages impoverished partners to seek support.
My name’s Trey, I'm an Instagram husband,” says one guy. “I've had to delete all the apps off my phone to make room for more photos. It’s become a pretty big problem,” another says. “It takes so long to get anywhere because we’re taking pictures of our feet.”
