Snapchat Update Introduces some Seriously Good New Features!

Snapchat has been booming recently and it continues to do well. But with great social media success comes great responsibility. The app has plenty of potential to get boring, so it is important that the developers keep their user-base happy, current and discovering new things.

In a bid to keep its users from getting bored of the same old – same old selfies, they introduced a feature in January called Discover. Needless to say, it didn’t take off.  But in this recent update, Snapchat are giving users a bigger and better reason to visit the Discover tab.

Discover is Snapchat’s article/news tab, made up of some big names like Comedy Central and ESPN.

In the newest version of Snapchat you will find you are able to take clips from Discover and send them to your friends. All you have to do is press and hold on a Snap in the Discover tab and then you can pass it on from there.

You can add text too, whether it be for clarification, for an extra slant on the subject or just for bare lols.

Your friends will receive the Snapchat as usual but it will have an extra purple tag at the bottom saying it was “Sent via Discover”.  Then your friend can click that and be taken to the full article/video, still within the app itself. This should help boost the visits that Snapchat get to
Discover. Because until now, nobody really cared about it.

I think this is a grand idea and I hadn’t been able to envisage how it would be possible until now.
In terms of other updates on Snapchat at the moment, there is now the option to zoom in, mid-recording! Just by using a casual finger swipe.

And if you’re like me and a few updates behind, then you might not have heard about Snapchat’s own QR codes, called Snapcodes/Snaptags.

You can find your personal Snaptag by pressing the yellow ghost icon. You just have to focus your Snapchat camera on someone’s code and voila, you automatically follow that person.

This is making it easier than ever to follow your friends. But that’s not the only good part of these QR codes. They are also going to make it possible for celebrities, sports teams and everyday users to get more followers. Snapchat is quickly moving away from a personal, friends-only social network – it is now able to do all the things that Facebook does, but more succinctly, more interactively and with fewer security risks.

My guess is that Snapchat will soon be suggesting people to follow. But for now you will have to go online or look at promotions to discover a new Snapcode.

Snapchat is developing quickly and they are doing well to keep their teenage audience hooked. Not only will these updates help keep their current users, it may help to pick up a few more along the way. For this app it is important to have the users in order to make money, right now, Snapchat looks like it’s in a good position to face the future.
