Jennifer Aniston’s Social Media Debut

I didn’t realise that there was a gaping hole in the Twitter sphere until today. But now I know the gap is there, I don’t know how to go on.  

All your major celebrities have Twitter. Or at least Instagram. But not Jennifer Aniston. She’s nowhere to be seen.

Last week, the 46 year old actress finally appeared on Instagram and although it was for a fleeting moment, it was also magical.

Jennifer only ever agreed to let go of her social media prejudices for one day and did the deed by taking over the account of her favourite hair-care company called Living Proof.

It all started a week ago. It could have been your average Thursday, but no. Living Proof spoke out to their 38k Instagram followers and announced that Jen was in their headquarters and ready to take over their feed for the day. 

“Take it away, Jen” they said and so she did.

Picture numero uno features what we can assume is her average breakfast: a singular poached egg, spilling out luxuriously over a small slice of wholegrain bread. Two ruby red tomato slices besides 3 thick cuts of avocado – not only are we salivating but we’re also pooping our pants with excitement to see what Aniston does next. Oh yes!

Aniston took like a fish to water with the whole Instagram thing. She took a shot of nearly every meal she had that day (natch), put up plenty of pictures of her pooches (goes without saying) and even gave us a Throwback Thursday special to a pre-Friends, pre-hair treatment Jennifer!

The stunt has given all Jen An fan girls everywhere a taste of what a real, personal account might look like. Meanwhile, the takeover was a great way to get the brand even more recognition and pull in a smidge more traffic.

But I wouldn't go holding your breath for another appearance anytime soon. Despite being a huge star, she is one of the very few celebrities that doesn’t indulge in any personal social media. Maybe it’s a “Jen thing,” because similarly popular Jennifer Lawrence isn’t online either. 

I guess fans of Jen An will be waiting impatiently to see if this Instagram teaser has sparked anything in her. She might be hooked, but for now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
