[Exclusive] The Gathering Event: The New Place To Be As A Tech Start-Up
The Gathering is a new business event organised by Paddy Cosgrave, the founder of the Web Summit and it happens one day before the Web Summit.

The Gathering is an event created thinking about start-ups and investors. It brings together start-ups and established companies to exchange knowledge, network with the right people and in many cases find investors or Business Mentors.
This first Gathering is being hosted at the Nova School of Business and Economics in Cascáis Portugal, not too far from where the Web Summit will be held this week.
A press conference hosted by Founder & CEO of Web Summit, Paddy Cosgrave and Deputy Mayor of Cascais, Miguel Pinto Luz and Web Summit Country Manager Artur Pereira, was held before The Gathering started. In this press conference, he mentioned that at this week’s Web Summit one of the main interests will be new technologies for cars and transport, environmentally friendly technology and some of the speakers will be from Porsche, Volkswagen and Lamborghini.

As the press conference took place we saw the entrepreneurs arriving by a private bus to The Gathering, already networking and creating connections.

Inside the venue, we could see sitting and standing tables, set up ready for the attendees, with a variety of nibbles and drinks.
These are the type of events that are needed nowadays, a totally new structure where it is not just about presenting your business or exhibiting what you do and hoping to get exposure but where start-ups can have the opportunity to exchange knowledge with others in the same position and maybe find mentors or even investors interested in them. Where they get exposure, knowledge, connection and maybe investment, all in a single place and finally feel that their investment in being part of the event was well worth it.
