Inspirational Last Facebook Post Goes Viral

A very inspirational lady’s last Facebook status has gone viral.

Seema Jaya Sharma died earlier this week. She was 37 and had just lost her six year long battle against cancer. But she didn’t want to be known as a victim, fighting or losing a battle. She faced the problem matter-of-factly and that is exactly what caught the media’s attention.

Seema, who had prepared her 17 and 8 year old children for her death, had also given away most of her clothes before her death, in order to save her mum one of the hardest tasks.

This lady is one who is thoughtful, positive and smart in the way she addressed both her life and her death and her last post is in keeping with this very admirable attitude:

Seema had already beaten cancer three times, but she was told three weeks ago that there was nothing more that could be done. Over her final few days she posted vlogs documenting what was becoming of her tired, swollen and spasming body. It's a tough site to see.

But from looking at Seema's Facebook profile, it is clear to see that everything was coming to an end. She was finding it hard to talk and type and then her Mac decided to quit on her too, but nonetheless, she continued a funny and friendly attitude - making sure everything was organised before she said "farewell."

She scheduled a final post (the one above) to go out on Facebook after she died and it just got shared and shared and shared and shared.

Seema was often in the public eye for her awareness and fund raising efforts. Her colourful and eccentric character still comes across in her final days and I cannot imagine how hard it was to keep it up all the time.

"We are all going to die one day. I don't see why it should be perceived as such a negative. I've suffered a lot and now I'm ready to be free. It's not a bad thing. It's the next thing in the cycle. I'm excited to see what happens next, rather than sitting here in pain." - Seema

Once upon a time, we would never have heard about Seema. Nor would we have been able to watch her emotional videos. Seema's story might not have even been heard. This is the power of social media.

I get sick of hearing about viral videos of Kardashians or cats. This is the sort of viral post that is worthy of the media's attention.

A lot of us have to face cancer these days and it's scary. It is so scary. But Seema proves how social media allows us to live on way after our death and not in a creepy way. Because her words will always be there to remind others how to be brave, how to be positive and how to see the bright side.

Well done Seema. We hope that everyone is colourful at your funeral this Friday, as you requested, and that it is a happy send off that celebrates your truly amazing life.
