Social Media News - Twitter Is Heading Into Partnership With Stripe For In-Tweet Payments
Twitter is reportedly said to be teaming up with a start-up Stripe which accepts online payments and in mobile apps, to allow its users to make purchases directly through the microblogging site. The deal is known to be close to completion and is expected to give brands and retailers an opportunity to sell their goods directly through their social media sites.
In this way, Twitter users will be able to make purchases by credit card using Stripe’s integrated payment tools. A deal with San Francisco-based Stripe would be a huge milestone for the short-messaging service and then they’ll be far more likely to cough up ad dollars for the social media site. And Twitter would get a cut of any sales made through Stripe’s services. Stripe’s service accept payments by credit card without setting up an account of any kind which is an advantage to gain more leads.
As there are a number of third-party products available in market offering tweet-to-pay options for some time now, Twitter has chosen to be more cautious before proceeding with such a service. Twitter showed more interest in the idea of tweet-to-pay functionality last year when it partnered with American Express to provide functionality for the users to make purchases among a limited number of items by tweeting a special hashtag.
Twitter and Stripe have until now made no comment on the news of a possible tie-up, this move could foster a new range of financial push for Twitter.
