Facebook Adds Chat Stickers To Desktop

Emoji fans can now share their favourite
Facebook stickers on the desktop version of Facebook Chat.

Facebook stickers were launched on mobile devices in April and then, a month later, Facebook began allowing page administrators to add stickers to messages sent from the page manager app.

Now, users can add stickers to Chat conversations on desktop, as well as on mobile, devices. To add stickers, users just have to click on the smiley face at the bottom of a chat window. Each of the sticker packs has the designer’s name beneath it, some of whom are at the forefront of the field.

Users can also navigate to the Sticker Store by clicking on the basket icon. There are 15 different sticker packs to choose from, with two added as default. One of the packs features cavorting cartoon versions of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s dog Beast, while another features characters from Universal Studios’ new film Despicable Me 2.

All the stickers packs are currently free, but Facebook are finding other ways to monetise the feature, as evidenced by the branded Despicable Me 2 sticker pack. Of course, Facebook stickers will also keep users on the site for longer, increasing the likelihood that they will see, and respond to, advertising in their news feed.

Do you use stickers to add colour to your conversations? What sticker packs would you like to see added?
