Facebook Launches Related Hashtags, Facebook Mobile Hashtag Support And A New Android Beta Testing Group
Facebook now supports related hashtags, having added hashtags earlier this month. Hashtags have also been added to the Facebook Mobile app, but only to the m.facebook.com version. In related news, Facebook has launched an Android Beta testing group, asking members of the public to test new Facebook Mobile for Android features.
When users search for a hashtag, other hashtags which have been posted alongside it will appear. Twitter and Google+ already have related hashtags. Facebook monitors and analyses hashtagging activity on the site to work out which hashtags are related.
Hashtags are now available on the m.facebook.com mobile app. Hashtags are yet to be released on iOS and Android devices, however, but this can’t be too far away. In fact, Facebook are asking Android users to join the new Android Beta testing group if they want to try out new features, such as hashtags, up to 10 days before general release.
In a post announcing the ‘tool’, Facebook said that data gathered from the group would help Facebook to create and release reliable products of a high quality:

This new tool will help us get performance data and feedback from more people ahead of release across a wider range of devices and versions of Android. The ultimate goal of the program is to release updates to Facebook for Android that are more reliable and better performing.In the announcement, Facebook went into some detail about Facebook’s plans for mobile releases.
