Facebook Suggestions Will Now Influence Foursquare
Foursquare will now take the suggestions of Facebook friends into account when recommending destinations.Users who have connected their Facebook and Foursquare accounts will now be able to see their Facebook friends’ activity on Foursquare, as long as they have befriended them on both sites.
“When your Facebook friends do public things on Foursquare, like write a tip, like a place, or take public photos,” says the Foursquare blog, “we’ll now use that to help power your recommendations when you search in Explore.”
Foursquare was quick to alleviate any fears that personal information on the site might be posted on Facebook without permission, assuring users that the “check-in privacy remains the same”.
The change comes only a few days after Facebook Nearby was released, the social media giants direct competitor to Foursquare, which has a similar recommendation system.
Foursquare has also released an updated iOS service in the past two days, with a more detailed discovery service.
