Social Media Promotions of the Week: 23/11/2012

Every Friday, the staff here at Social Media Frontiers chose the best marketing campaigns from the past week. The innovation, success and simplicity of each promotion is taken into account. This week the five best social media promotions that stood out from the crowd are as follows:

1. Do The Mobot
Company: Mo Farah Foundation

Double Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah and Virgin Media have teamed up in the hope to raise £100,000 for the Mo Farah Foundation by getting people to ‘Do The Mobot’.

An instruction video has been put onto YouTube to explain the steps and urge people to upload videos of themselves for the chance to appear in the music video which will be released in December.

Virgin Media will donate £2 (to represent Farah’s two gold medals) to the charity for every video that is uploaded as the campaign is supported by a social media impetus using a #dothemobot hashtag.

2. GetTheLabel Christmas Campaign
Company: GetTheLabel.com

Get-the-Label (1)

Fashion retailer GetTheLabel.com have developed a campaign to give back to their loyal customer base with the opportunity to surprise loved ones at Christmas.

Fans of their Facebook and Twitter pages will get plenty of opportunities to win surprises from the online shop and social media pages as GetTheLabel.com will be asking Christmas based questions every day until December 21.

The fashion retailer is also launching a ‘Christmas Party Fortnight’ at the start of December which gives fans the opportunity to get style tips and outfits by using a #DearSanta hashtag to Tweet their wish list to GetTheLabel.com.

3. Let it Schnee, Let it Snö, Let it Sneeuwen
Company: Rosetta Stone

Rosetta Stone’s new Christmas campaign will use Christmas songs and festive humour to show how enjoyable learning a new language can be.

The campaign encourages people to enjoy and share the gift of language this Christmas as they hope for people to be singing ‘Let it schnee, let it snö, let it sneeuwen’ instead of ‘Let it snow’.

The campaign runs across tube panels and digital displays with Rosetta Stone’s 40,000 Facebook fans also being exposed to the campaign which was developed by the Brand Action agency MBA.

4. Pass the Parcel
Company: Farfetch

Online fashion boutique Farfetch have created their first Christmas campaign with the help of Yomego, based around the ‘pass the parcel’ concept in the form of an app.

A parcel is wrapped in paper and will stay on their website and Facebook pages with fans having to ‘unwrap’ the parcel to have a chance of winning a daily prize.

The app will also feature a map which tracks the spread of the game over Facebook and Twitter. Those who ‘pass the parcel’ will be entered into a prize draw and a chance to win £3000.

5. All I Want For Christmas
Company: Red Letter Days
